WW84 Doesn't Recapture Magic of First Movie

                           ****SPOILERS AHEAD*****

Just finished Wonder Woman 84...or is it called WW84? Pick a title.

I kept my expectation low for this movie. I generally try to keep expectation low in general but that's for a different post.

Even with my bar set low, this movie fell short.

It's certainly not the worst superhero movie I've ever watched, it just fell flat.

It's not festivus but I'm going to list my grievances.

1) It's way too long. There are some very self-indulgent scenes. We get it, you have a huge budget and you want to squeeze every cent out of it. The flying through the fireworks scene most notably. Cut the scene in half. There are a few other that could've been left out for my taste.

2) The CGI wasn't good. Most notably the Dianna running fast scenes. The Flash on the CW does a better job of showing speed on screen than this big blockbuster of a movie did. With all of the time waiting for this flick to come out, they couldn't have fixed this? Give the Russo Brothers a call and ask how they did that for Captain America and Black Panther? Maybe?

3) Gal Gadot is not good. For somebody who has experienced the loss of the love of her life, Steve Trevor coming back and then losing him again, she failed to convey that emotion. She should've been devastated, emotionally wrecked but nope! Just....nothing.

There were some highlights in the movie. Pedro Pascal was great. Did a great job of becoming Max Lord. Very charismatic. Showed how power can corrupt and then some sort of redemption. Maybe in the sequel we'll find out?  Kristen Wiig in a non-comedic role shined. Chris Pine was Chris Pine just a solid actor. The mid-credit scene was a nice tribute to the original Wonder Woman.

This movie felt like it wanted to be several different types of movies all balled into one and it just felt....blah.

If I would've paid to see WW84 at a theater, I would've been pissed that I dropped that kind of money. But I watched in my pj's while drinking a Mountain Dew.

I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.

The Wonder Woman 1984 Opening Scene Has Arrived

No thanks to COVID, we've had movies pushed back and pushed back and pushed back.

Well...Warner Brothers has had enough with pushing everything back. They announced that Wonder Woman 1984, which feels like it was supposed to come out 100 years ago, is finally going to be released in theaters AND on HBO Max on Christmas Day!

To get everybody hyped for the movie, the studio has released the opening scene for Wonder Woman 1984.

So you've now watched the first 3ish minutes of the movie. Excited? I am!
