Former NBA player Delonte West is behind bars after he pounded on the doors of a Florida police station while in an apparent drunken stupor, authorities say.
The incident occurred late Thursday night in Boynton Beach, where the hammered 38-year-old reportedly shouted obscenities at police officers when they finally responded to the ruckus, West's arrest report reveals. Officers found him holding two open containers of alcohol, per the report.
Although West initially resisted arrest, he began to comply with officers' orders after one threatened him with a Taser gun, police say. Still, the ex-Mavericks star "continued to be belligerent, screaming profanities and obscure rants" all the way to the booking station, according to police. West, a recovering alcoholic who began working at a rehab facility when his NBA career ended, was released on bail Wednesday morning, police say.
