Getting smacked in the face by a bird is one of the risks you take while at the amusement park. It usually doesn't happen because the bird, while not the brightest of creatures, usually moves out of the way!
The bird, in this instance, did not move and ended up flying into the face of a poor girl who just wanted to enjoy the Sling Shot ride.
