Yesterday, I fell into a rabbit hole. It's a band that I absolutely loved back in the early 2000s.
For some reason, I started listening to Cross Canadian Ragweed again. Just put the phone on shuffle and off I went.
I was introduced to them by Jim Mantel when we worked at WGAR. He thought I would like them and he was right. (Yes, I said Mantel was right about something, there's a first for everything 😂)
I was instantly all in on these guys. They played the Ballroom at The Agora. I was lucky enough to go to the meet and greet. While I was backstage, their record label rep asked if I wanted to bring them on stage. I almost pooped myself.
Not too many people get to bring one of their favorite bands on stage! There were only a couple hundred people at the show. But they played like a couple thousand people were seeing them. They were great.
Unfortunately, they were too country for rock radio and too rock for country radio. So they never got the airplay they should've and eventually, they went their separate ways. But their music lives on and so do my hopes of a reunion.
So the song that's stuck in my head is Cross Canadian Ragweed - Breakdown.
