Cleveland Indians Send Lindor, Carrasco to the Mets and the Timing Couldn't Be Better

Today's the day Tribe fans knew was coming. The Indians have sent Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco to the New York Mets for a bunch of players that you've probably never heard of.

We all knew this was going to happen. It's been talked about for 2 years! Today was just the day.

And while it sucks that Lindor is gone, the timing could not have been better for the Indians.

Allow me to explain. The Cleveland Indians are the number two team in northeast Ohio. Browns are the obvious number one. What are the Browns doing this weekend? They're playing in their first playoff game in 18 years. What are the sports talk shows talking about this week? The Browns being in the playoffs!!! So, if you're the front office of the Indians, and you know you're going to take a beating from the media and the fans over this move, why not make it while you have some cover? That's exactly what the front office of the Cleveland Indians did. Lindor being moved will be a story for about a day and a half. The media and fans will call the Dolans cheap. They'll bitch and moan and then quickly shift back to the Browns playoff game. The only way this could've been better is if the Indians made this deal during the Browns game.

Today, you're upset, and rightfully so. Could the Indians win a World Series with Lindor? I don't know. But they sure as hell aren't any closer to winning a title without him.

Tomorrow, Lindor being moved, won't even be a topic.
