Last night was the Super Bowl and I was dragged to a party with some of the wife's work friends. Most of them are very nice people. Most didn't care about the actual game. Some of them, I'm convinced have NEVER heard of the sport of Football. Insane I know. One person that was there had never heard of the Puppy Bowl!!!! I'm convinced the person is a communist. Something else was reinforced while I was there....my wife is a pretty cool lady. One of the guys came up to me and asked how I got her to like football. I lucked out...she's always liked football. She plays Fantasy Football and would probably kick your ass in it. While we were at the party, she was explaining the rules of the game to some of her friends. She's awesome.
Other Super Bowl thoughts....
The commercials were okay at best. A few stand outs in my opinion. Were the M&M's commercial.
The Clint Eastwood/Chrysler spot was very well done.
The Bud Light/We Go was well done.(You should help rescue dogs, if you don't Sarah Mclaughlin will keep making really depressing ASPCA commercials.)
Those were the only commercials that I really liked. I spent a lot of time on Twitter (@RadioOnTheTony) checking out what other people were saying about the commercials and a bunch of people were upset about the Go Daddy spots. Saying they are sexist. Two things. 1. Sex sells, dummy! 2. As long as people keep logging onto their website to see how the commercials end, they're gonna keep making them. Want them to stop making those commercials? Stop logging onto the website. It's really THAT simple.
The halftime show...can the NFL please stop with halftime shows? The only reason they put on a show is because they get a boatload of sponsorship money. They usually stink and last night was no different. Madonna didn't sing a word of that. MIA flips off the camera because she's hardcore? I didn't know she was relevant. Cee-Lo was wearing the same garbage bag he wore at Summer Slam. (My wrestling people appreciate that.) If the NFL is going to keep doing a halftime show, and they will, how about an act that is relevant and can actually perform their music. After last night, Nickelback doesn't sound that bad as a halftime show. Think about it, they've sold a bazillion records, and can actually play live. Strange concept, I know. Hate on them all you want, but they sell out every show they play and sell a ton of records. I would rather have them, than a 50 something year old skank bucket trying to relive her youth and failing miserably.
The game itself....I can't be mad. I was clearly pulling for the Patriots. Living in New England for a year will do that to a person. Great game. I'm happy for Eli Manning. He won in the stadium is brother, Peyton, built. Good for him. Even though he still looks confused.
I think that's all. Thank you for reading this nonsense.
