It's Been Nice, Maine.

Our time in Maine is coming to a close. The wife and I moving back to lovely Cleveland, Ohio. Here's the deal.

A little over a year ago, I moved up here taking a job at a local station. I lived here, without my wife, for about 7 months. She finally is able to move up here, and everything kind of fell apart. Couldn't sell the house in Ohio, thought we did, but the short sale we were originally approved for was denied. (Its a wonder why people hate banks) Okay, so we rented our house. Things are looking okay, things are looking up. Then, due to "corporate restructuring", I was let go at that station that I moved across the country to work at. Not that I'm bitter about that. I'm not the first person its happened to and I won't be the last. I can still be bitter about it though =). This happened roughly one year after being let go in Cleveland. Amazing how life works, huh? #KickInThePants.

So why are we going back? Well, our lease is up here. All of our family & friends are there and honestly, we have no roots here. My wife and I thought this would be a good opportunity to help my career. Radio people move. We are nomads. But I also have to think of my wife. She wants to be around her family, her friends. To us, it makes sense to go home and try to regain our footing. If life had a reset button, we would have pushed it by now. Life doesn't have reset button, so we are trying figure things out and being around family, friends will help. We think. It'll also be cheaper to live in Cleveland, than in Maine....by A LOT.

The past 2 years of our lives have been difficult, stressful, hard but there have been some good times as well. Not as many as we would have liked. I have no idea how to wrap this up. I feel as if I should say something nice. Go cheap lobstah!? Your seafood is terrific, though. I never liked fish before, but haddock is yummy.

If you ever get a chance to visit Maine, I would recommend it. In the summer, there are lots of touristy things to do and aside from the fat guy in socks and sandals, the beaches are really nice. Great food, especially seafood. There's lobster everything. Lots of parks. If you love the outdoors, Maine is a good spot to check out.

As we close this chapter in our lives, hopefully the next will be better. I'm not going to say "it can't get much worse". Every time we say that, something happens. So we've stopped saying it. We've made a few good friends up here and we'll stay in touch. I'll keep rooting for the Bruins and laughing at the Red Sox. Who knows, maybe we'll be back for a visit.
